The feel-good factor in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, a coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama, released in 2013, is one such film that can be watched on a loop. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, has a feel-good factor in it. Many people have opined that the last scene where the lead actors (Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone) finally decide to spend the rest of their lives together is endearing. The last frame where Ranbir embraces Deepika is picture-perfect. It is simply unforgettable.

Every time one watches the film, he or she feels to fall in love and to enjoy life to the fullest. There is no denying the fact that Ranbir and Deepika look cute on screen. In fact, they have the power to lighten up any scene through their mere presence. Even after seven years of its release, the last scene where Bunny visits Naina at her house on the eve of New Year is still as fresh as a flower.

On the night of their friend Aditi’s (Kalki Koechlin) wedding, Bunny has to leave for Paris. However, at the airport, he realises what he is leaving behind. Instead of going to Paris, he goes to his home to reconcile with his stepmother. Later, on New Year’s Eve, he goes to Naina, who is all alone at her home. A surprised Naina receives Bunny, who explains he has turned down his dream job to be with her.

With no melodrama or over-the-head emotional outburst and scene, Bunny proposes to Naina, who fears that he might go away once again as he did on a trip which they took some eight years ago. But Bunny says he is happy with her and wants to continue traveling with her. The film ends with Bunny and Naina embracing.

In addition to this scene, there are many such heart-warming scenes in the film. It is pertinent to mention here that Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. It was co-produced by Apoorva Mehta and UTV Motion Pictures and written by Hussain Dalal based on a story by Ayan Mukerji.

Upon release, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was a box office success. It was a very popular film amongst the youth. Since its release in 2013, the film has achieved cult status. In the 59th Filmfare Awards, the film received the highest number of nominations (nine). Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
