Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (2018) Movie Review

The quality of a movie depends very much on its balance upon us entertainment factor and its proximity to the reality. Bhavesh Joshi Superhero might as well be the most realistic take on vigilante justice, and is fairly entertaining for the masses as well. Director Vikramaditya Motwani must be lauded for creatively using an important event in the recent history, and how it being settled to the dust changed the mindset of many people in the country. How the anti corruption movement, referenced in the movie, raised hopes for the betterment of the country amongst millions, and how those dreams shattered.

All the four protagonists relate very well to the youth of the country, with dreams inside to bring a change as well as fondness for alcohol, vlogging and weed. Hence the motive for the rise of the hero seems convincing enough, and so his build up as a hero. Although the build up is quite late and hence loss of interest amongst some cannot be blamed upon the people. The deep roots of the corruption and the extent up to which the powerful try to complete their motives is very well potrayed.

The chase sequence in which hero escapes the goons might as well be the best scene of the movie in terms of both choreography and thrill. The end of the movie is very different from the conventional endings as well, but ita up to the viewer to whether like it or be completely disappointed by it. The best parts of the movie is the script – crisp, realistic and well balanced. Harshvardhan Kapoor also plays his role decently, acting and stunts both. No stunt looks exaggerated, and the fight scenes are clever and effective. But the best thing about the movie is that it’s a collected effort of almost everyone, reflecting on the screen well enough. Of course the movie is not without its flaws; the length of the movie being the major one. Lack of a major female lead should not be a bother for most, but some might be disappointed. Still, the effort must be appreciated, much like the one potrayed in the beginning of the movie.

Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, a decent watch.
